IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Faye
Hassler
December 2, 1927 – December 29, 2023
Our beautiful Mother, Faye Easley Hassler, passed away December 29,2023. She was born December 2,1927, the first of four children to Myrtle M. Easley and Bonnie E. Easley. A lifelong Memphian, Faye was a proud Treadwell Eagle, as were her siblings and children. In 1943 Faye met a handsome sailor, David Hassler from Allentown, Pennsylvania, who was stationed at Millington NAS. They were married on June 8, 1945, and enjoyed a happy marriage for 54 years until David died in 1999.
Faye worked for 20 years at Schering-Plough. She and David were longtime members of Highland Heights Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Girls Auxillary, and led Bible Drill. Later she became a member of Bartlett Baptist Church. She was a longtime volunteer for West Cancer Center. Faye was an excellent cook and baker, winning a blue ribbon at the Mid-South Fair for her cake with caramel icing. She loved sewing, smocked beautiful clothes for her only granddaughter, and embroidered cherished gifts for family and her many friends. When she moved to Hearthside Assisted Living during the Covid pandemic, she made masks for residents and staff. She continued entering embroidery items in the Delta Fair, winning a ribbon in 2023.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard David Hassler, her infant son Kenneth Luke Hassler, her sisters Joyce and Gerry, brother Bonnie, and best friend and sister-in-law Shirley Easley.
She is survived by her children Marsha Barrom, David Hassler (Cindy), grandchildren Cayce (Matt), Josh (Laura), and Jon (Kim), and five great grandchildren Cecelia, Kayla, Josh, Eli, and Jon David, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
"How beautiful are the hands that serve."
