Frances (Frankie) Briscoe Spears, "Nana", 85, of Olive Branch, MS, formerly of Memphis, TN, passed away, Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Methodist Hospital Germantown of a sudden illness. Frances was born in Scobey, MS to the late Guy and Pearl Briscoe. She graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, MS and was a member of the Oakland High School Girls'' Basketball Team. She was a homemaker and retired hair stylist. Frances was a long time member of Broadway Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Joy Club. She was an excellent seamstress, gifted artist and loved flower gardening. She enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and ballroom dancing. She loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many fascinating places. During her retirement, Nana treasured the time she spent with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they loved her dearly. Frances leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years, Bobby Jack Spears, Sr.; three children, Bobby Jack Spears, Jr., Memphis, TN; Melandia Crossnine (Don), Bartlett, TN and Jeffery Briscoe Spears, Memphis, TN ; six grandchildren, Jackie Stark (Peter); Steven Crossnine (Amy); Kimberly Thoma (Michael); Jeremy Spears and Brandy Jolliff (Dan); seven great -grandchildren, Kayla and Nicholas Stark: Brody Weatherall: Ethan and Lindsey Crossnine; Henry Thoma and Savannah Jolliff; one sister Juanita Sicurella, Sayville, NY; one brother Gwendale Briscoe, Scobey, MS and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Two sons, Jimmie David Spears and Michael Barry Spears; sister Gwendolyn Briscoe and brothers, Guy (Buddy) Briscoe and James Briscoe, preceded her in death. The family will receive friends 11 am -12 pm, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 followed by funeral services at 12 pm., both at Broadway Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Broadway Baptist Church, 7400 Getwell Road, Southaven, MS 38672. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 51 at Freefield, Grenada, MS.
