Obituary

Frances South, 93, of Horn Lake, Mississippi was received into the loving arms of Jesus July 10, 2020 surrounded by her daughters. Frances was born in Memphis, TN on May 24, 1927; daughter to the late George and Mary Alice Rider.

Mrs. South was preceded in death by her husband Bill Lee South. During their 55 years of marriage, Frances and Bill lived in Whitehaven, Tennessee where they raised their three daughters before residing in Horn Lake, Mississippi.

Mrs. South will forever be cherished by her children: Barbara (Ronnie) Bierbrodt, Patti (Wayne) Hallberg, and Debra (Bruce) Holbrook; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

Mrs. South is survived by her siblings Henry (Margie) Rider, Gloria Gingery as well as a host of extended family.

She was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church and devoted her life to the ministry of Christ. For many years Frances prepared weekly fellowship meals at LaBelle Haven Baptist Church. In later years, she continued to help serve meals at Boulevard Baptist Church and was a constant presence at Vacation Bible School.

Frances enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, quilting, gardening, and all things nature. She was a proud descendant of Davy Crockett and loved to share her heritage with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her Christian life and influence will remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Boulevard Baptist Church, 885 Church Road East, Southaven, MS with a celebration of life service immediately following at 1:00 pm with internment at Forrest Hill Midtown cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Boulevard Baptist Church.
