Frank Gerrard Brown of Oakland, TN, formerly of Memphis, TN, was born in Carroll County, MS on May 12, 1937 and he went home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born to James Riley Brown and Nannie Lou (Harbin) Brown Thurman, who preceded him in death. He leaves his wife of 41 years, Diane McGee Brown and a daughter, Amber Darline Brown (David) Johnson of Dothan, AL.; two grandchildren, Eric Paul (Ashleigh) Rice of Dothan, AL and Calista (Callie) Rice (Joel Tarpley) of Enid, OK, and two great-grandchildren, Cyndal Tarpley and Rylan Rice. Having been preceded in death by two brothers, Jessie Dean Brown and James Ronald Brown, he leaves two brothers, Billy Hayes Brown and Joe Nathan Brown and two sisters, Frances Thurman Byrd and Donna Brown Ballard. He also leaves one uncle, Samuel (Jack) Brown and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Brown attended Christine and Humes Schools in Memphis, TN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. after 36 years in the service department. He was an ordained deacon in the Presbyterian Church(USA) and a member of Cordova Presbyterian Church and also attended Oakland Presbyterian Church. He loved life, sports, motorcycles and golf and was a long time follower of University of Memphis sports. He was most proud of his military service to his country and being an ordained deacon in the Presbyterian Church. He had many friends whom he met along life''s journey. May God bless and keep them all. Services are scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 11:00 am at Cordova Presbyterian Church, 1071 N. Sanga Rd., Cordova, TN 38018, with visitation prior to the service from 9:30 am-11:00 at the church. Interment follows at Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cordova Presbyterian Church or Oakland Presbyterian
