Fred McDonough passed away, peacefully, on Monday, July 2, at age 70.  Fred was born in Memphis on October 16, 1947, the son of the late Orville and Rose McDonough.  Fred attended Tech High School and Memphis State University prior to enrolling in the Navy.  He served in Viet Nam working in Ordinance for Naval Air.  After retiring from the Navy, Fred joined the Naval Reserve.  Fred taught printing at Tech High and worked for many years for International Paper.  After retiring from the Naval Reserve, Fred worked in a civilian capacity at Millington Naval Air Base.  Fred was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and spent many happy hours at the VFW Hall in Millington.  Fred was passionate about barbecue.  He built several smokers and entered numerous contests, winning many first places for his ribs and pork shoulders.

Fred was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife Suzanne Sullivan McDonough, his two sons, James Robert and Timothy John and his grandson, Jackson Payne McDonough. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, at Immaculate Concepcion Church followed immediately by a funeral mass.
