IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frederick D.
Wesson
June 17, 1927 – May 29, 2025
Frederick Dee Wesson, a devoted family man and faithful Christian, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He was 97 years old.
Born on June 17, 1927, in Belmont, Mississippi, Fred was the son of Fred Lee Wesson and Vista Ruth Cranford Wesson. Raised with strong values and a deep sense of community, he was taught to farm and hunt to provide food for his family and neighbors.
In October 1950, Fred began a long and fulfilling career with Delta Air Lines, originally Chicago and Southern Air Lines. Over nearly four decades of dedicated service, he witnessed the evolution of the aviation industry before retiring in 1989. His steadfast nature and reliability were reflected in his work ethic.
Fred shared 57 cherished years of marriage with his beloved wife, Nadine Smith Wesson, whose memory remained close to his heart following her passing in 2011.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister Mona June Harkins; daughters Sherry Rogers, Loretta (Terrill) Helms, Lillian (Bobby) Williams; son Dale (Dana) Wesson; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who dearly loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Lee Cranford Wesson and infant sister Nora Ruth Wesson.
Beyond his professional accomplishments and family devotion, Fred found joy in the simple pleasures of life and entertained friends with countless stories always followed by his infectious laugh. He had a passion for farming and fishing. He enjoyed countless hours on the lake with numerous fishing buddies. He also enjoyed picking pecans and tending to his garden for over 90 years.
A man of deep faith, Fred was an active member of Goodman Oaks Church of Christ and was always a willing servant. His candy "Pop's recipe" was always a hit at church gatherings.
Fred leaves behind a legacy rooted in faith, hard work, and love for family. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sardislakechristiancamp.org or Goodman Oaks Church of Christ.
