Gail Woodard Hartz, 66, retired as Office Manager for General Plumbing Co. in Memphis, TN, died April 19, 2014. Gail is survived by her husband, Harold Hartz of Memphis; her mother, Kay Woodard of Memphis; her beloved in-laws, Audrey and J.W Garner of Memphis; her sister, Linda Woodard Black of Fair View, TN; her brother, Philip (Terry) Woodard of Memphis; her brother, David (Barbara) Woodard of Franklin, TN, and her sister Anna Williams of Bellingham, WA. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Woodard, her sister Donna Woodard Smith and her brother Bobby Woodard. Gail always put family first, her beloved animals next and then her much-loved U of M tigers. Gail graduated from Whitehaven High School and attended Memphis State University. She worked for General Plumbing Co. for 26 years until her retirement. She then began her service to her animals by volunteering at the Olive Branch Humane Society. She happily worked at the shelter full time for the next 10 years where she made her mark with hundreds of dogs and cats. She greeted each of then every week with a smile and hugs that made so many animals happy. Her devotion and love to these animals helped them spend their last years happy and healthy. Following the U of M tigers was her preferred pastime and she loved to cheer them on whenever she could. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 followed by a service at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill East on Whitten Road.
