Genie Emerson Eldred, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on April 28, 2024 at the age of 72. She was born on August 18, 1951 in Memphis, TN to Thomas and Elisabeth Emerson. She grew up in Memphis and graduated from Westwood High School. Genie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed early American, Roman and Egyptian history. She retired from DeSoto County Schools where she worked at Horn Lake Junior High School and Central Services.

Genie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Elisabeth Emerson, and her brother, William T. Emerson. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, James "Frank" Eldred; two children, Dawn Davis (Brett) and Thomas Eldred (Belinda); and three grandchildren, Brannon Davis (Kathryn), Lauren Eldred and Nathan Eldred, all of Hernando, MS.
Genie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 2-4pm at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Southaven, MS.
