Obituary

George I. Brandenburg, 89, died September 10, at St. Josephs Hospital in Tampa, Florida, of cardiac arrest. He is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 66 years. He was predeceased by son Daryl Brandenburg of New Orleans, Louisiana and leaves three daughters, Nancy Kuhn (Brian Kuhn) of Memphis, TN; Marilyn Jones of Lake Placid, Florida; and Janet Cooper (Jeff Cooper) of Lexington, North Carolina. He has 8 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Glendore Ballam, Mrs. Phyllis Easterday and Mrs. Jeanette Easterday of Maryland. As a Lt Commander and Naval aviator with 33 years of service, he always loved to fly. After retiring from the Navy, he was general manager of Libertyland, a manager of the MidSouth Fair and of the Florida State Fair. Services will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home, visitation at 10 a.m., funeral at 11 on Tuesday, September 17. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Andrews United Methodist Church of Brandon, Florida where he was head usher for 15 years, or to the First Unitarian Church of Memphis or to a charity of the donor's choice.
