IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Archie
Crews
October 5, 1927 – December 10, 2025
George Archie Crews, Jr., was born on October 5, 1927, in Ripley, Tennessee, to George Archie Crews, Sr., and Rachel Ellen Chapman Crews. He passed away at his home on December 10, 2025, at 98 years old. George was affectionately known as G. A. to many. He was one of eight siblings. He grew up on a farm in Lauderdale County and attended Ripley High School.
G. A. loved to tell the story of how one day he met a pretty girl in Memphis who was riding her bike. Her name was Shirley and she soon became his bride.
G. A. began working at Film Transit in Memphis in 1947 when he was 20 years old. He served in the U. S. Army from 1952 to 1953. He was in Korea 14 months with much of that time spent in a combat zone.
In 1955 G. A. and Shirley welcomed a son named Mike who became their world. Their home was always filled with faith and love and music and joy.
In 1991, Mike Crews was tragically killed in an automobile accident. G. A. and Shirley leaned heavily on their support for each other and their faith.
In 1992, they moved to Collierville, Tennessee. They were faithful members of Germantown Baptist Church.
G. A. is survived by his loving sister, Bobbie Crews Webb, and many loving nieces and nephews.
G. A. will be remembered for his steadfast love of Jesus Christ and his devotion to his family and friends.
