George E. Smith, 84, of Memphis, passed away July 23, 2012 at St. Peter''s Nursing Home. He was the owner of Southern Mechanical Contractors Inc. Mr. Smith was an Army veteran, a member of Temple Baptist Church, and a Mason and Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Gertrude Smith; two sisters, Bernice Franklin, Sue Walden; and a brother, Thomas Smith; and is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 27 and service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at Forest Hill South Funeral Home with burial following. In lieu of flowers, family request any memorials be sent to American Cancer Society.
