Georges W. Smith of Memphis died July 8, 2014 at Baptist Collierville Reynolds Hospice House. He, along with his family and friends, recently celebrated his 93rd birthday on July 4. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sarah Jane Smith, and his son, George Smith, of Texarkana, TX, and grandson and great-grandson, all named after him. He is also survived by a brother, Dennis Rice, of Oracle, AZ, and a sister, Linda Rice, of Oakland, CA. Georges retired from the Army Air Corps as a Flight Officer, and was one of the original 'Flying Sergeants.' Later he flew for the State Department in Asia and Africa. He was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church, serving as Lay Minister and in the choir. Funeral services will be held at Forest Hill East on Whitten Road on Monday, July 14th at 2 PM with visitation at 1 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Central Christian Church, 531 S.
