George Albert Thomas, 96, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 in Southaven, MS. He leaves behind two sons, Barry Thomas (Sheila) and Mike Thomas; four grandchildren, Justin Thomas, Kimberly Thomas, Lauren Hill, Cynthia Thomas; and four great grandchildren, Jacob, Lorelai, Brady and Macy. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Naomi Thomas; his parents, David and Lula Thomas; one sister, Ruby Johnston; and one brother, Tommy Thomas.

George was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, Southaven, MS and the Shriners club. He was drafted out of high school by the United States Navy and fought in WWII from August 1944 through August 1947. He moved to Memphis, TN in the early 1950's with the love of his life, Mary Thomas where they later had 2 sons. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tinkering on things and watching his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 1:00-2:00pm at Forest Hill East, 2440 Whitten Rd., Memphis, TN 38133 with funeral services starting at 2:00p.m. Graveside services will follow at Forest Hill South, 2545 E. Holmes Rd., Memphis, TN 38118.
