Mr. Gerald Leon Bobbitt, Sr. was born June 1941 in Hernando, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Charles Otha Bobbitt and the late Annie Lois (Walden) Bobbitt. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela McMaster, his brothers, Jimmy Earl Bobbitt, Milton Bobbitt and Charlie Bobbitt.

Gerald retired from Allstate as a Claims Adjuster. He also served in the Army National Guard. In his younger years, he worked as an auto mechanic and could do anything needed to a car. He could fix almost anything around the house and if he didn''t know how he would figure it out. He was a thinker and a doer. He enjoyed his garden and the simple pleasures of life. He liked old western movies and television series'' such as M.A.S.H. What he loved most was his family; his children and his granddaughter. He enjoyed cooking and family meals. He was an active father and always ensured all of his children''s needs were met.

Gerald departed this life January 10, 2016 at home in Memphis, TN after an extended illness. He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Gerald L. Bobbitt, Jr. (Amy), Vera Ashley Bobbitt and Destin Cooper Bobbitt and their mother, Lynn Bobbitt all of Memphis, TN; one granddaughter, Madelyn Ashley Bobbitt; one sister, Emogene Richards of California; a longtime friend, Shirley Carter and family; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2016, 5-7 and funeral service, Friday, January 15, 2015 2:00 pm. All services will be at Forest Hill Funeral Home, South 2545 East Holmes Road.
