Geraldine "Geri" Fay Rivalto Beaugrand, went to be with her Jesus on April 22, 2023, after a brief hospital stay determined a variety of complications warranted hospice care.
She lived a long, 91 years of faithful independence keeping her family at the center of her heart and mind.
Ms. Geri, Momma, Aunt Geri, Grandma (her favorite name) was known for her tenacity and unabashed task commitment. If she decided she was going to do something, she most certainly would do that very thing, exactly the way she intended. Those who truly knew her understood her fervor to be about doing good things at top quality. She was surely recognized as a stand out in her work life for this drive. She was a pioneering employee of the Bell South/AT&T telephone company for 25 years where she was among the first women to operate a fork-lift after starting her career as a Long Distance Phone Operator.
Ms. Geri was all about practicality and order. She lived humbly and gave big to her children and grandchildren. Simple routines were her thing— yard work on Saturdays, church on Sundays, dippy egg and toast each morning. In her youth, she was quite a dancer of the jitterbug type and a real stunner. Her nick name was "crazy legs" due to her fancy footwork on the dance floor. When complimented for her beauty and grace, she commonly would deflect flattery with a humorous quip. Her nephew said, "Aunt Geri, you look so pretty in that flowery dress," (at the Piccadilly restaurant on Elvis Presley Blvd. after church on Sunday)— to which she responded with a sharp "100% Cotton!" retort. Everyone laughed, even her. Ms. Geraldine Fay was a no frills, keep to the facts, hilarious lady.
She is survived by her children, Christee L. Smith, Jeffrey S. Beaugrand, and Clifford A. Beaugrand (wife, Kathleen); her Grandchildren, Bryan, Melissa, Katie, Robert, and Ben; five Great Grandchildren; her Brother, Mike A. Rivalto (wife, Becky); and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Joseph Rivalto; her mother, Minnie Christine Grant Rivalto; and her sister, Rosa Donna Rivalto Thornton Fennell.
