Obituary

Geraldine Rea Stephens, born 1928 in Madison County near Humboldt, TN.  She was the oldest daughter of Legal R. Rea and Virgie Mae Carter.  They moved shortly to a little community named Fruitvale.  They were farmers.  She knew what hard work was, and her mother always had a place for one more  She graduated from Bells High School..  Shortly afterward, she moved to work in Memphis, working as a Catalog Sales Associate for Sears.  She lived at the Elizabeth Club because that's what proper single women did back then.  She did not like Memphis, but returned home.  She married Charles Billy Stephens and moved back to Memphis.  She leaves behind her two daughters, Debbie Cook and son-in-law Sam Cook, and Lynn Rogers and son-in-law Mike Rogers, grandsons Bryan Shackelford, his wife Vicky Shakelford, Michael Rogers, and Zachary Rogers.  She was also the sister of Quiton Rea and Sue Carruth, both deceased.  She was a member of Leawood Baptist Church for over 50 years.  She received Christ at an early age, and rededicated her life late on in years.  She sewed many dresses for her daughters, and planted many flowers.  She loved nature.  Heaven's Gates were opened to her on January 2, 2022, and the angels welcomed her home.
