Gloria Ernestine McCamon Smith-Case, age 90 passed away the morning of Dec. 10, 2024 at Methodist North Hospital. She was a native Memphian born at the old St. Joseph hospital downtown. She and her family grew up in the National Cemetery Community. She was a 1953 graduate of Treadwell High School. She worked for Bell Telephone until she wed Bobby Joe Smith, a US Army Serviceman and went with him to the Republic of Panama, Central America. Gloria's two oldest sons were born at the US Army Hospital in Panama. The family returned stateside in 1957. Her two youngest children were born in Milan, TN. She began a career as collection specialist with Sears and Roebuck in Milan, TN then later in Memphis. She also did collections for Valley acceptance, account control, and lastly French Riviera Spa. Her career spanned over 45 years.

She is survived by one sister. Janice McCamon Coghill; her son, Michael (Debbie) Smith; her daughter, Rebecca (James) Smith Butler; grandchildren, Benjamin (Tina) Smith, Jessica Smith Moran, Christopher Smith; and great grandchildren, Andrew Bevins, Makayla Bevins, Jacob Smith, Paisley Smith, Devin Chizmar, Jonas Chizmar, and Allie Chizmar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Vera McCamon; her husband, Bobby Joe Smith; her second husband, Kenny Case; her brother, Richard Buddy McCamon; her sister, Joyce McCamon Durr; her two sons, David Smith and Mark Smith,and two brother in laws as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
