Gordon "Lamar" Waters, Sr., 93, of Memphis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 08, 2014. Mr. Waters was a devout Christian and a faithful servant to the Lord. He was a long time member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 36 years. He led Boy Scouts of America for years where he shared his love of knot tying and bullwhips. Lamar is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Lee Waters, two sisters and one brother. He leaves four children: Charlotte Traicoff of Memphis, Lamar Waters, Jr. of Hailey ID, James Foy Waters of Zebulon, NC and Jane Carol Brooks of Collierville; one sister, Edna Stewart of Savannah, GA; four grandchildren: Chris Traicoff, Josh Ammer, Emma King, Mallory Brooks and Jed Waters; also one great-granddaughter, Nori Ammer. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Hill South Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Foxbridge Assisted Living and Crossroads Hospice. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to: St. Jude Children''s Hospital.
