Gwen Hannon Regel, born August 12, 1938, was welcomed into her eternal home in heaven Sunday morning, August 30, 2015. Gwen was one of six children born to the late Leonard Alney and Gertie Faye Hannon of Baldwyn, MS. After attending Northeast MS Community College in Booneville, Gwen was a secretary at the Mid-South Title Company in Memphis. After her retirement there, she served as Director of the Children''s Program of the East Memphis Class of Bible Study Fellowship for several years. Gwen was married for 53 years to her beloved husband, James, who preceded her to heaven in 2014. Together they had served in various areas of Bellevue Baptist Church, doing their part to fulfill the Church''s Mission - to love God, love people, share Jesus and make disciples. Gwen''s most fulfilling role was to teach a ladies Sunday School Class until declining health forced her to retire. She is survived by the love of their lives, their daughter, Joy Reckord (Stuart), two precious grandchildren, Maddox (5) and Molly (2); three sisters, Faye Hardy (Adair) of Memphis, Marg Babcock of Dover, DE, and Bonnie Hannon of Tupelo, MS, and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Bobbye Moran and James Earl Hannon. Gwen, your family is unanimous in our testimony that you fought a good fight, you finished your course, you kept the faith; therefore, there has been fashioned for you a crown of righteousness, reserved in heaven for those who refuse to quit - even in the face of great obstacles. The service will be in the chapel at Bellevue Baptist Church on Thursday, September 3, at 11 a.m. preceded by the visitation at 10 a.m.
