Gwendolyn Waggener Wilkinson (Aug 18, 1926- Aug 25, 2017)

Horn Lake - GWENDOLYN WAGGENER WILKINSON, 91, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 25, 2017.
Gwen served as a school crossing guard for the City of Memphis and Desoto County Schools for over 30 years, retiring at age 80. A life-long resident of the Memphis area, she grew up in midtown and went to Southside High School. As an accomplished seamstress and with a strong desire to stay at home with her children, Gwen sewed for her family and spent years as a tailor.

Mrs. Wilkinson was proceeded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert H. Wilkinson, Sr. She leaves behind her sister, Barbara Carden; her three children: Robert H. Wilkinson, Jr. (Jeanie), Maryann Thornell , William F. Wilkinson (Claire); her four grandchildren, Ashley Weatherly (SSG James), Brittney Mackey (Arthur), James B. Wilkinson (Rachel), and Nathan C. Wilkinson (Kelsey). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; Kenny, Brooke, Taylor, Gavin, Alana, Liam and Micah.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 29th at Forest Hill South Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at the funeral home with interment to follow.
