Louisville, MS - Harold R. Jackson, Sr. 79, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 11 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Independence, MS with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday also at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Jackson is a U.S. Army Veteran, a Shriner, and member of Harmony Baptist Church in Louisville, MS. He retired as District Chief of the Memphis Fire Department after 25 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Katie Mae Herod; a sister, Martha Cortesi and two brothers, G.W. and James Herod. He leaves his wife Beverly Jackson, 6 children: Richard Jackson, Jr., (Nancy) of Oakland, TN, Kenneth Jackson (Tina) of Byhalia, MS, Lisa Jones (Ralph) of Moscow, TN, Tammy Bunn (Weldon) of Olive Branch, MS, Mike Steen (Stacy) of Olive Branch, MS, and Bridget Hoover (Joe) of Brandin, MS; one brother, Tommy Herod of Memphis; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family request in lieu of flowers memorials are sent to: Any Baptist Children''s Village, Harmony Baptist Church Youth Ministries or St. Jude Children''s Hospital.
