Harry Eugene Concklin, Jr. was born June 10, 1925, to Harry and Mildred Concklin in Bloomington, IL. The Concklins moved to Memphis when Harry was 2 years old. Harry graduated from South Side High school, where he met his wife of over 60 years, Gloria Hillis. Harry was attending Memphis College when World War II began. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served until the end of the war, and served again in the Korean Conflict. Harry and Gloria have three children, Pam Concklin Machefsky, Jimmy, and Harry III -- Known as Biff, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Harry was a lifelong golfer who also loved baseball, and was an avid reader. He was a long time member of Balmoral Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and taught Sunday school. After Gloria passed away in 2004, Harry was fortunate to have a caring companion until his passing, Virginia Sipole. Harry was a devoted husband and father. Harry was a positive, upbeat, happy person, confident in his Lord, the cornerstone of his life. If you knew Harry you were blessed; he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
