Obituary

Hattie Dell Bunch died on October 6, 2012 at her home in Nesbit, MS after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Tuesday with the funeral service at 11:00 am at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch, MS with interment at Black Jack Cemetery in Vaughan, MS. Hattie was born on February 10, 1930 to Wesley and Gertrude Hearst. She grew up in Yazoo County, MS where she married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Lee Bunch in 1952. She retired from John Deere located in Memphis, TN after 35 years of dedicated service. After retirement she worked at Holiday Inn Corporate Office and at the Clinical Trials Department at the University of Tennessee. She is survived by her husband Jack; three sisters, Waweese Robinett of Ft. Worth, TX, Nora Hood of Clinton, MS and Yolanda Fisher of Vaughan, MS; many cherished nieces and nephews; and a host of friends including her longtime friend, Betty Bowers of Hernando. She was preceded in death by her brother Pat Hearst, and her stepfather, Bill Bowles. Hattie was devoted to the United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women and served as a state officer for many years. She served on the board at the Wesley Meadows Retirement Community in Hernando, MS. Hattie was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority for 60 years, a national philanthropic organization. She had many happy memories of the people who were helped by DTT and the convention trips she went on. She was also a member of the Desoto County Republican Women. The family would like to thank Dr. Sadanand Patil and his staff, the Baptist Hospice personnel and her caregiver, Tina Pride for all the tender loving care she received. They all brought hope and "sunshine" into her fight with cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church, 8745 Goodman Road, Olive Branch, MS 38654.
