Hazel Azelene
Murphy
Jul 16, 1924 — Jul 29, 2019
Memphis
Hazel Azelene Murphy, born on July 16, 1924, passed on to be with the Lord on July 29, 2019. Hazel was born in Prentis County Mississippi, somewhere south of Booneville, in the general vicinity of Altitude Store and Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Murphy, a son Larry C. Murphy of Bartlett, TN, parents, Jim and Ritter Cole; seven brothers and sisters; Jess, May, Frank, Walter, Dan, Minniebell, and Inez. Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Rema a Murphy of Santa Barbra, CA and James P. Murphy of Bakersfield, MO. "Nanny" as she was called by the family had been blessed with eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and countless numbers of nieces and nephews scattered across the country. Hazel was a founding member of the Sycamore View Church of Christ. She had so many good friends there and so many good memories of going to church with all the ladies and their activities, parties and Bible studies. Hazel gained a special friendship with Dr. Phil Hart and his wife Sherry. Dr. Phil was Mom's dentist, and today will be delivering the eulogy. Nanny had great friends wherever she lived, Wendt Rd, Horseshoe Lake, Thrushcross Cove, and the Birches Apartments. She gained a special friendship with Ashley and Bre, the two young ladies who manage the office. They helped to watch after her and took care of her needs around the apartments. She repaid them with goodies from her stove. We also thank Ashley and Bre for helping her. Mom also made a special friendship with Lydia, her neighbor. She helped Mom so much, and the two became very close. Lydia, we will always be in your debt for your help and kindness to her. Thank you, Lydia. Hazel loved her family and loved her church. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
