Helen Cooper, 88 of Memphis, passed away May 1, 2023.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Smith (Kirby); son, Charles "Chuck" E. Cooper, Jr.; three sisters, Sarah Heair, Rachel Richer (Dave), and Martha Allen (Bob); grandchildren, Christy Brown (James) and Tyler Smith (Anna); great grandchildren, Hudson Brown, Logan Brown, and Harper Brown; and sister-in-law, Dell Baird.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Cooper, Sr.; parents, Aubrey Lorette and Ruth Irene Baird; two sisters, Nell Sevold and Margaret Lacy; brothers, Billy Baird and Richard Baird; sister-in-law, Dorothy Baird; and three brother-in-laws, Gordon Sevold, Elkin Heair, and Lynn Lacy.

Ms. Helen was a current member of Cherry Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school lessons. She was a former member of Lamar Heights Baptist Church where she held many callings such as, a cook, nursery instructor, as well as taught Sunday school lessons. She was a ceramics making instructor at McFarland Community Center.

She enjoyed being outdoors with nature and kept a garden at her home where she spent time with her family. She was very proud of her family and loved them dearly. She was a gentle, loving soul and will be missed greatly by her friends and family.
