Herbert Eugene Hodges was born April 6, 1934, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he attended Fayetteville High School and the University of Arkansas, graduating there in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a major in the study of History.  He was saved on his 18 ^th birthday, and called to preach shortly after thereafter.  He attended Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 1962.  He pastored churches for 27 years in Arkansas, Texas, and Tennessee.  His last pastorate was at Cherokee Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee, from 1970 to 1980.  In 1980 he entered itinerant ministry conducting revivals, Bible Conferences, Spiritual Life Conferences, and Disciple-Making Conferences.  This ministry has taken him into most of the 50 states of the U.S. and over 200 trips to foreign countries always to train pastors and leaders there in the process of world-visionary, world-impacting, disciple-making in fulfillment of Christ's Great Commission.  Herb has also authored 23 books.  Herb is survived by his wife, Judy; his son, Bryan Hodges; his daughter, Shari Holt; his sister, Kathy Westnedge; his step-daughters Jody Wilson Donovan and Jill Wilson-Nagle; and six grandchildren.  Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 20, 2018, at Kirby Woods Baptist Church, 6325 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN, 38119.  A celebration of his life will follow at the church at 2:00 PM.  Interment will be held at 9:00 AM, Monday, April 23, 2018 at Forest Hill Memorial Park, East, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN, 38133.  Those wishing to honor the legacy of his ministry are requested to send memorials in his name to Kirby Woods Baptist Church, 6325 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN, 38119.
