HERMAN JOSEPH INDERBITZEN, SR., 101, of Memphis, TN, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was born on October 18, 1912 in Memphis to Lorenz and Agnes Inderbitzen. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Gwendolyn Kelso Inderbitzen and four brothers, George, Edward, John and Frank Inderbitzen. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves five children, Cathryn (Chick) Huettel of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Joseph (Madelyn) Inderbitzen of Germantown, Margie Baggett of Germantown, Larry (Becky) Inderbitzen and Jean (Chuck) Lofton of Memphis; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Herman was the owner of Inderbitzen Cotton Company, a fixture on "Cotton Row" for 40 years. In his youth, Herman hopped a freight train with several friends to Hollywood, CA. While there he was a movie actor, appearing in several movies including the 1936 film "The Charge of the Light Brigade". He was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Visitation will be Friday, November 1 at Forest Hill Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Road. Rosary will be at 5 p.m., followed by the visitation until 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be at the Cathedral, Saturday at 10 a.m., with interment in Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery.
