Obituary

On the evening of February 5 th , 2020, Herman Lee Perkins of Olive Branch passed away at the ripe old age of 84. He is survived by his wife Bess, of 64 years, daughter Terry (Mike), his grandchildren Laurie Brennan (Justin), Brian Thomas (Melinda), and Beau Thomas (Jenna). Herman was the proud Papaw of his six great-grandchildren Kinsley (KK), Colby, Hadley, Hollis, Harry and Holt. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Dunlap and several nieces and nephews. Herman was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Zenewee, his brothers RC Perkins and Richard Perkins and his sisters Opal Wilbanks and Janie DeLaRosa. He attended the University of Tennessee – Martin and worked for Summerall Electric Company for over 40 years. Herman always enjoyed an active lifestyle and over the years he played baseball, golf, softball and bowling. He was still walking a mile a day (weather permitting). In addition to playing sports, he was also a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and an avid supporter of the University of Memphis – Go Tigers Go! Some of his other pastimes included his weekly card games with friends, watching the western channel and making almost daily rounds on his John Deere. But his happiest times were those spent with his family. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, February 8 th , 2020, from 10 to 12 at Getwell Church in Southaven. A graveside service at Forest Hill South in Memphis will follow immediately. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude or the Tunica Humane Society.
