Southaven - HOYT EDGEWORTH PEELER, 88, died October 10, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto. He was born November 22, 1923 in Filer, Idaho to Robert Earnest Peeler and Edith Mae Edgeworth. He served in the United States Army Air Force and received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University. He ran his own large animal practice in Effingham, Illinois and then a dog and cat clinic in Columbus, MS and Memphis, TN. Later he worked for the USDA as a meat inspector in Hernando, MS. He is survived by his son, Alan Peeler of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Sam Wigley of Southaven, Amy Redditt of Enterprise, FL, Ira Wigley of Horn Lake, MS, and Cody Peeler of Memphis, TN; great-grandchildren include Oliver Wigley, Emily Wigley and Hayden Redditt, and sister, Martha Goheen of Marshall, MI. He was preceded in death by Marcelle Stone Peeler, wife of 57 years, May 7, 2003; Marguerite Wigley, daughter, December 21, 2012; and brothers, James Peeler and R. C. Peeler. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, October 15 at Forest Hill East Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 11:45 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Southaven, MS, with the family receiving friends following. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital. He was a loving, generous, wise sage who will be dearly missed.
