Obituary

Hugh Michael “Mike” Gadd, 76, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away on April 12, 2026. Born in Ripley, Mississippi, Mike lived a full and vibrant life, defined by his love for family, his quick wit, and his deep passion for sports.

Mike was a devoted husband to Mary Gadd and a proud father to his daughter, Gina Gadd Stephens, and her husband, Stuart Stephens. He found immense joy in being “Paw Paw” to Tessa (10) and Finley (7), who brought light and laughter into his life. Nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family, sharing stories, laughter, and moments that will now be cherished forever.

Mike attended the University of Memphis, where he studied Business with a minor in Education, and went on to build a successful career as a municipal broker. He approached life with a practical, matter-of-fact perspective, but always with a sense of humor close at hand. He had a gift for storytelling—whether recounting a memory, sharing a joke, or offering his take on the world, he could always make those around him laugh.

Mike was a lifelong sports enthusiast and a passionate supporter of University of Memphis basketball and football. He was also a devoted New York Yankees fan and could often be found listening to or calling into sports talk radio, eager to share his thoughts and join in the conversation. His love for sports wasn’t just about the games—it was about the excitement, the camaraderie, and the stories that came with them.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Buford Gadd and Kathryn Thurmond Gadd; and his brothers, David Gadd (Jane Gadd), and Mark Gadd (Sandra Gadd).

Above all, Mike was a man who loved life. He embraced each day fully, found joy in the simple things, and made lasting impressions on everyone he met through his humor, honesty, and warmth. He had a way of making people feel comfortable, making them laugh, and reminding them not to take life too seriously.

Mike’s legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
