Ione Winton Wilson, 89, formerly of Memphis, TN, died May 27, 2013 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. Ione was born December 2, 1923 to Ione Driver Winton and Vernon Pearce Winton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, L. Ernest Wilson and her granddaughter Kellie Rose Wilson. Ione and Ernest worked together for 35 years at the agency her father founded, Mid-South Insurance Office, and Ernest Wilson & Sons Agency. She was a graduate of Central High School in Memphis. Ione spent many years in community service as a member of the Tennessee Jaycettes-auxiliary of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and served as State President. She was a founding member of Woodland Presbyterian Church of Memphis. Ione Winton Wilson leaves her three children, Sallyone (Charles) Causey of St. Petersburg FL, Vernon E. Wilson of St. Pete Beach, FL, and Barry (Billie Sue) Wilson; and her sister-in-law Gloria Babb and her cousins Charlotte Driver Farrelly and Jeanette Driver. She leaves 6 grandchildren, Scott (Kelli) Causey, Stephanie (John) Bonnette, Mathew Wilson, Tracey (Alex) Thesmar, David (Lori) Wilson, Ryan (Chrissy) Wilson, and 9 great-grandchildren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Ione found the time to support her family, church, and community. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday June 1st, at Forest Hill Funeral Home, 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN with graveside service to follow. The family requests that memorials be made to Woodland Presbyterian Church, located at 5217 Park Ave., Memphis, TN 38119.
