Iva 'Marie' Coburn Pou, 90, passed away April 2, 2018 at 5:55 a.m. at Christian Care Center surrounded by family. She was born August 3, 1927 to Ivan and Anita Coburn in Memphis, TN. Marie attended Catholic High School from 1941-1945 and St. Joseph School of Nursing from 1945–1948, where she graduated and received her RN license.
In 1948, she married the love of her life, Buddy Pou, and they were happily married for 57 years until his passing in 2005. She worked for the USPH Service in the 1950's and 1960's, then went to Baptist Memorial Hospital on the Campbell Clinic Unit as the Floor Supervisor. She really enjoyed working orthopedics. She returned to USPH Outpatient Clinic, where she retired in 1981.
Upon retirement, Marie and Buddy moved to Harmontown, MS, spending time fishing and hunting. Marie let Buddy do all the hunting, while she stayed home and kept up with the hunters on the CB radio and the dogs. She was very blessed with her family, good health, and a quiet, slow environment.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Pou (Buddy) and her parents, Ivan and Anita Coburn, and two sisters, Joyce Bridges, and Dot Oliphant. She is survived by one son Kenny Pou (Kathleen) and one daughter Mickey Lee (Terry) Pace; grandchildren: Rebecca (Clint) Talley, Kevin (Paula) Brown, Kris (Jenny) Brown, Kenneth (Alexis Nicole) Pace, and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to make a donation to a charity of your choice, or the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
God Bless you all.
