J. M. "Jim" Barnett, 86, went to be with the Lord on January 28th, 2019.  He was born in Guys, TN on September 21, 1932.  He moved to Memphis when he was 18 and worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 35 years, where he retired.  He was a faithful member of Easthill Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Barnett; his brother, Waldo Barnett; and his sister, Willie Joe Srygley.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Steele Barnett; two children, Michael (Roberta) Barnett and Lisa (Mark) Croom; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  Family will receive friends at Easthill Baptist Church from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service.  Internment is at Forest Hill East on Whitten Road.
