James C Barbee Jr, born on November 24, 1940 went to be with Jesus April 5, 2023.

James married the love of his life, Jackie, on June 19, 1963 in Memphis TN. They were married for 43 years before Jackie went to be with Jesus in 2006. James remained in the home he built in Byhalia until moving to Spring Hill TN in 2019.

James was an avid wood worker and relished creating things with his hands. From an early age, he was always creating something. One of his all-time loves was flying. He obtained his private pilot's license and flew as much as he could in his early years. He worked for the Memphis Fire Department from 1968 to 1982, when he left public service to begin working for himself. In 2003 he retired from The National Bank of Commerce after having been promoted to an officer with the bank. During his time there, he continued his love of working with his hands as he was the Maintenance Engineer for all Memphis Area Branches.

James was a member of Central Church and loved the friends and family he had there. His relationship with his Savior continued to grow through his time at Central. He counted his relationships and friendships developed there as some of his most prized possessions.

James is survived by his sons, Todd (Kim) and Craig (Dawn), his brother in laws, Jack Foppiano III and Mike Foppiano, his nephew Mike Barbee (Brenda), grandchildren Grace, Anna-Caroline, Noah and step- granddaughter Danielle and many, many lifelong friends.

James' service will be on April 17, 2023 at 2:00pm with visitation beginning at 1:00pm at Forest Hill-Memorial Park Funeral Home 2440 Whitten Rd Memphis TN 38133. After the service, there will be a short graveside ceremony on the grounds.
