James Robert (Bob) Bruce, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 13, 2017 and now is eternally present with Jesus and other loved ones who had placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ whose sacrificial death paid the price for the sin of every man, woman, boy, and girl.
Bob was loving husband to Gail Bruce for 65 years, father to Trey and Tom, father-in-law to Sandra, and grandfather to Brennan, Brooke, Joe, Lauren, and Brent. After retirement from Crittenden Publishing in West Memphis, Arkansas, Bob enjoyed walking at the Grace Building, relaxing in front of a television watching his beloved Cardinals, Grizzlies, and Tigers as well as the afternoon version of Jeopardy.
As a member of Bellevue Baptist Church for over 50 years, he served many of those years as a deacon, a Sunday School class officer, and made a weekly trip for over a decade to Bellevue Frayser with Gail, Trey and friends to stock the food pantry that served as a tool to meet the physical needs of the less fortunate as a means to open their hearts to the truth that Jesus Christ alone can meet the spiritual hunger inside of every person. Visitation will be from Noon to 2 P.M. Friday with services at 2 P.M. at Forest Hills Funeral Home-Whitten Road with burial in Veterans Cemetery.
The presence, humor, quirks, generosity, and love of Bob, Daddy, BobBobBob, and Grandpa Bob will be sorely missed by those who knew him until the day they are all reunited to never again be separated. If he were to share one fact with every reader today it would be that when he passed from this life into the presence of Jesus, abundant life, free from tears, worry, and pain, truly began and he would plead with anyone who does not know Jesus to taste and see that He is good before it is too late.
