Brumlow
Jan 24, 1938 — Feb 21, 2022

In Celebration of the life of James Calvin Brumlow James Calvin Brumlow, moved from the walks of this life to his heavenly home Monday, February 21st, 2022 at the age of 84. He started this earthly journey January 24th, 1938; he was born at home in Calhoun, GA and welcomed into this world by his parents, John Frank and Maud Brumlow. While on his journey through life, he met the love of his life, Margaret and after a short 3 month courtship he made her his wife in a small ceremony in front of Wonder bread on Vance St. after which they both went to work. They remained faithfully devoted to each other for 59 years and to the moment he slipped from this life to his reward where he awaits her arrival when her race is run. God blessed their union with a beautiful family. This family includes 3 sons, Randy, Aubrey and wife, Alisa, and Billy and wife, Crystal. 4 grandchildren, Breanna, Harlie, Kennady and Addison. He also leaves behind his siblings, Sidney, Doris, Martha and Sharon. He was welcomed to his heavenly home by his mother, Maud and father, John Frank as well as his grandson, Shawn and a host of siblings that have passed from this life. James lived a full and colorful life. He traveled with Lloyd Arnold and the Rockin drifters as their lead guitarist and went by the stage name, "Jimmy Sea". He penned a number of songs and when he met Margaret at Maggie's bar in downtown Memphis, while on tour penned a song in her honor, Crazy Out of my Mind. The lyrics offer us insight to his love sick heart, "Misery achin' heart I had last night; I couldn't stop thinking of you. You've been on my mind so much; goin' crazy out of my mind." This must have been when he decided he couldn't live without her and decided to quit the band and marry her on August 3rd, 1962. They were a hard working couple, she worked at Maggie's and Wonder bread chip and he worked for Bruce Lumber Co. until he was able to get on at Ivers & Ponds to work on pianos, which became his life's work. This led to him opening their business, Brumlow's Piano tuning and repair service in 1985. In 1968, James walked into Grey Rd Church and surrendered his life to God! He loved God and took every opportunity to witness about Him to anyone who would listen. He attended Grey Rd for many years and was a faithful musician playing his guitar in services. He was a Biblical singer/songwriter and his songs came straight from the scriptures. He was a founding member of Hope Apostolic and remained an active member until his going home to be with the Lord. |
