James "J.C." Crawford Bennett, 89, died June 13, 2019 at Baptist East Memorial Hospital, Memphis TN, surrounded by his family. J.C was born in New Albany, MS on February 1, 1930 to the late Walter and Zelpher Bennett.. He graduated from W. P. Daniel High School. He retired from Life Savers Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church, New Albany, MS. J.C. was also a former member of the Memphis Lion's Club as well as New Albany, Lion's Club and Good Samaritan. He lived a fulfilling life like no other and loved every minute doing it with a smile. He loved people, selling candy, telling stories, volunteering at Oakhaven Baptist Academy, taking care of his wife, children and grandchildren. J.C. never met a stranger. He loved to play golf as well as doing things around the house. J.C. never slowed down, had the biggest heart and would give you the shirt right off his back. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Peggie Sue Bennett, children Suzanne Melton and James S. Bennett, his five grandchildren, Adam Melton, Justin C. Bennett, Kylie Bennett, Braxton Bennett and Lucas Bennett, one sister, Mary Etta Walker (Jess). He was preceded in death by his sister Louise Fitzgerald (Everett) and brothers William Ray Bennett (Wilma) and Charles Eason Bennett.

Pallbearers include: Lawrence Fitzgerald, Adam Melton, Justin Bennett, Braxton Bennett, Lucas Bennett and Dylan Phillips. Honorary Pallbearer: David Fitzgerald and Sunday School class.
