James D. Davis, 81, of Bartlett, TN, passed away on May 7, 2014. He was born in Tippah County, MS to the late, John and Pauline Davis. Mr. Davis proudly served as a US Marine during the Korean War and graduated from Memphis State. He retired from Kraft and was an avid Memphis State Tigers fan. Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret Tolley Davis; children, Melanie Davis Tate, Jimmy Davis, Paula Davis Vincent; sisters, Hortence Thornton, Grace Moore; brothers, Kermit Davis, Herman LaDrone Davis; five grandchildren, Nicholas Matlock, Jesse Davis, Davis Tate, Jake Vincent, Samantha Vincent; 16 nieces and nephews and over 45 great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Hilmon Davis; sisters, Martha Ruth Cardwell, Helon Rainey Wilkinson; and 3 nephews. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 9 and service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with interment following. In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorials be sent to Alzheimer''s Research.
