IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James G.
Johnson
December 3, 1937 – June 25, 2025
James Gid Johnson, beloved husband, devoted friend, and respected businessman, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on December 3, 1937, in Oxford, Mississippi, Gid lived a life marked by hard work, deep faith, and a boundless love for his family. Gid is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mitzi; their two daughters Karen Johnson Mokry (Mark), and Janet Johnson Akil (Alan); his 6 grandchildren: Cole, Tori, Nathan, Ginger, Alana and Allyson; two sisters, Liz Gravette and Patsy Spicer; and countless family members. In his early years, he was a fireman in West Memphis, Arkansas before becoming a truck driver and later a business owner. A visionary and entrepreneur, Gid was the co-founder of Industrial Conveyor Corporation, where he helped shape the company into a trusted name in the manufacturing industry. Known for his integrity, leadership, and determination, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Known for serving others, in 1957, Gid had the honor of protecting the Little Rock Nine during the school integration as a member of the Arkansas National Guard deployed by President Eisenhower. Gid was a faithful member of the Germantown Church of Christ, where he found strength, purpose, and a community that he cherished. His faith guided every aspect of his life, and he was always quick to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. Above all, Gid was a devoted husband to Mitzi, the love of his life. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment, joy, and partnership. Together, they shared many adventures traveling and spending cherished time at the lake—a place where Gid found peace, relaxation, and happiness surrounded by loved ones. Gid leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
