James Alfred Gibbs, age 75, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven MS after a brief illness. He was born September 25, 1948 in Memphis TN to Lillian Odessia & Robert Winfield Gibbs, who preceded him in death.

James is survived by his wife of 16 years, Patrice Gibbs of Hernando MS; his brother Donnie (Joyce) Gibbs of Groves TX; sons, Brian (Melissa) Gibbs of Hernando MS, Jason (Stephanie) Gibbs of Southaven MS, Chad Hardy of Chiang Mai Thailand; and daughter Tracy (Rawleigh) Hartzell of Collierville TN. James leaves behind nine grandchildren who he adored: Oakley, Keeley, Maria, Dalton, Madison, Mabry, Mason, Michala and Mackenzie.

He was the best Pappy/ Papaw, Dad, Husband, brother and friend. His love for his family was fierce and could be seen by all those that knew him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and racing but more than anything, he enjoyed the company of his friends, many of whom he'd known most of his life. He cherished those friendships.

James worked for many years as an HVAC technician and took pride in his work. He was honest, hard working and loved helping others, which was obvious to everyone he encountered.

James was a devoted member of Hernando Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving. He was a man of great faith. He loved the Lord with all of his heart. His very last day here on earth was spent praising Him. He spoke of the many blessing in his life and was thankful. His unwavering faith and grateful attitude was an incredible blessing to those around him. James will be missed by so many but we have comfort and joy in knowing that he is now resting in the arms of his Savior.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
