James Carl Jenkins, age 74, of Collierville, entered heaven April 10, 2013, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was born in Cottage Grove, TN to the late Carl Rayburn Jenkins and Gladys Belle (Paschall) Jenkins, on October 7, 1938. On January 15, 1959, he married Ida Maedyne Pipkins in Memphis. He is also survived by daughters, Denise (John) Nielsen of Camarillo, CA and Susan Bailey of Germantown; and grandchildren, Brandt, McKian, Ben, Linnea, Kaila, Josiah, and Julianna Nielsen of California, and Sam and Nick Bailey of Germantown; and brothers in law Raymond and Roger Pipkins. He was preceded in death by his sister Linda Hoffman and brothers in law George Hoffman and Bill Pipkins. The term "never met a stranger" applied perfectly to Jimmy. He enjoyed traveling, learning and building things but his greatest loves were God, his family, friends and country. He graduated from Messick High School in 1957. He retired from the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development in 2001. He was a member of Hope Church and greatly enjoyed his small group: Mary, Myra, Jim, Tricia, Sylvia and Bob. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hope Church on Saturday, April 13th with a Celebration of Life service immediately following. In lieu of flowers Jimmy requested that donations be made to the National Alliance of Mental Illness of Ventura County, P.O. Box 1613, Camarillo, CA 93011 or Hope Church Global Mission, 8500 Walnut Grove, Memphis, TN 38018
