Nesbit - J.G. (Buddy) Rogers, Jr., of Bridgetown, passed peacefully into eternal rest at his home on Saturday May 23, 2015. He was born in Memphis and grew up in the old Fort Pickering neighborhood before moving to Whitehaven where he lived for nearly forty years until retiring to Bridgetown. He was a skilled woodworker and with his beloved wife Mary traveled to many craft shows, not as a means to make money, but for the experience of the people he met there. In addition he loved fishing as well as riverboat cruises and bus tours. He has been reunited with his beloved wife of 56 years Mary Rogers, known as "Miz Buddy" in their days in Whitehaven. In addition he was preceded in death by his father James G. Rogers, Sr., his mother Annie Trice Rogers, and a brother Harvey Ray Lagasse. He was a charter member of GraceUnitedMethodist Church in Whitehaven where he served on many boards and committees and was currently a member of Hernando United Methodist Church. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Shar-lee Rogers of Bridgetown, his sisters Jo Anne Wilhite of Memphis and Nancy Iglehart of Oakland, MS and a brother Jimmy (Betsy) Rogers of Memphis. In addition, his grandson Shawn Nygard and his wife Larkin of Mathiston, MS who were his most devoted caregivers, without whom his wish to be able to stay at home with Mary could not have been fulfilled. Also grandchildren Sonya (Karl) Simpson of Springfield, MO, Sylvette Rogers of Hot Springs, AR, and Chad Rogers of Bridgetown. Great-grandchildren Silas and Bronlynn Nygard; Blake, Alexis, Jeremiah, and Aiden Simpson; and Lily Rogers. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the many friends and caregivers who helped grant his wish to remain at home as long as possible. Also the dedicated staff at Kirby Pines Rehabilitation, North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, and Spring Valley Hospice who provided such loving care in the last few months.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27 at Hernando United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery South. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26 from 5-7 p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home South and from 10 a.m. until time for the service at Hernando United Methodist Church. For those who wish, memorial gifts may be made to Hernando United Methodist Church or Project IMPACT c/o T. K Martin Center for Technology and Disability at Mississippi State University.
