Obituary

James Willard Mitchell II, age 87 passed away December 24, 2020. He passed away peacefully and is now with his Lord and Savior and Sweet Reba, his wife of 66 years. James was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on April 17, 1933 to Dewey Mitchell and Margaret Henry Mitchell. He was a member of The Life Church Memphis, where he attended services regularly. He was preceded in death by his wife – Reba Walker Mitchell, parents - Dewey Mitchell and Margaret H Mitchell, sister – Anne Wentworth, infant son – James W Mitchell III (Jimmy), and his granddaughter – Michelle Nicole Mitchell. He is survived by daughter – Markie Dale Cardone (Michael Paul), sons Michael Edward Mitchell, Jamie H Mitchell (Kathy), Stephen Edward Mitchell, grandchildren – Jimmie Jackson (Dianna), Chrisie Robeson (Dave), Matthew

Mitchell (Kayla), and Kaitlyn Mitchell. He is also survived by his 7 great-grandchildren. He was retired Navy after 20 years of service. His rank when retired at Millington NAS was AE1 (Aviation Electronics First Class). He served on the USS Midway, USS Hornet, USS Intrepid, USS Forrestal, and USS John F Kennedy. Was part of Fighter Squadron 21 which put in service the first jets in the US Navy (F9 F-2). He received orders to be a part of the Blue Angels Squadron and also served in the USN Choir. Above all, he was a Godly family man who put his wife and family first.
