James LaFayette Morgan, Jr. died at age 93 on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Southaven, Mississippi. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Mammie Morgan and James Morgan, Sr. He had two brothers, Spencer Morgan, and Charles Medlin and one sister Ruth Edwards (all deceased). He moved to Memphis, Tennessee at a young age. He married Bonnie Jean Pittman November 30, 1946 in Hernando, Mississippi. They had five children: James L. Morgan, III (deceased), Robert Morgan, Thomas Morgan, Richard Morgan (deceased), and Tracy Blevins. They have nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. One son at heart, Marty Blevins and one daughter at heart, Brenda Baker. James was a WWII Veteran and served aboard the USS Eaton 510. He was discharged May 10, 1946. James became a Brick Mason and was a proud member of the local union. He worked all over the Midsouth including the tower at Sears Midtown. He also was a long time member and deacon at Greenlaw Baptist church, and helped lay the foundation when it was built 66 years ago and became a member 50 years ago.
Services will be held at Forrest Hill East Funeral Home, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN from 12:30pm-2:00pm, Friday Dec 4th, service following. Burial will be held at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Germantown, TN,
