Obituary

James A . " Jimmy " M oser passed away peacefully on February 26 , 20 22 . He is now reunited with his b eautiful wife in Heaven . She only had to wait eleven weeks for him to join her . They loved and cared for each other for 69 years . Jimmy lived a full life for 89 years . He was born on March 11 , 1 93 2 in Tippah County , MS , to Ogle and Lou Ella McGown Moser and they moved to Bartlett when he was very young. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1951 and earned a football scholarship at Memphis State . While in college , he married his h i gh school sweetheart , Evelyn Sanders , on July 18 , 1952 . Jimmy was drafted in the US Army shortly after their marriage .

Jimmy has been a member of Bartlett Baptist Church since the age of seven . He served as a deacon for many years and also was the bell ringer on Su n day mornings - you could hear the bell all over town . After the Army , he worked hard and acquired many achievements . Among the many include , graduating from William R . Moore School of Technology where he learned woodworking and made many pieces of furniture for their home . Also , he was an accomplished railroad engineer . While there , the younger men knew him a s " P appy " a n d his peers called him " Donut . " That name lovingly stuck as his grandfather name " Daddy Donut . " Jimmy loved farming and growing roses . He made good on a promise to his daughter , Becky , that she would have her wedding in a rose garden in his backyard . He was a Master Rosarian and president of two local rose clubs and competed across the country with his rose s .

Jimmy was a mentor to many people through rail , gardens , roses , and sports . He could raise a stin k sometimes and did in the form of raising hogs . He loved coaching sports the best . He coached baseball and football little league teams for Bartlett Baptist and Elmore Park . He helped start the SYS program and the Elmore Park Packers . He also was the Commissioner of Bartlett City Lit t le League Baseball . Hunting rabbit , squirrel , and deer , which Evelyn joined him in , was also a favorite of his . He was tough , but kind and loved sharing his knowledge .

Jimmy Moser is the oldest of e i ght children and is proceeded in death by his wife , Evelyn Sanders Moser ; two siblings , Billy Moser , and JoNell Foster ( Roland ) ; granddaughter , Mandy Moser Stewart . He is survived by three children , J . Michael Moser ( Debbie ) , Richard A . Moser ( Vickie ) , and Rebecca Tap p ( Richard ) ; five siblings , Frankie Teitsort , Bobby Moser ( Notie ) , Caroline Suggs (Kenny ) , David Moser , Stanley Moser ; 11 grandchildren and 24 great - grandchildren .

The family will celebrate the life of James A . Moser at Bartlett Baptist Church on Kirby Whitten on F r iday , March 4 , 2022 . Visitation will begin at 10 : 30 AM , service will begin at noon , and burial will follow at Forest Hill East Funeral Home on Whitten Road .
