James Daniel Moss, age 79, of Lake Cormorant, MS entered into heaven on February 03, 2024 surrounded by family.

He graduated class of 1962 from Southside High School in Memphis, TN. He went to work at Illinois Central  Railroad shortly  after high school. He was a switchman, a conductor and the Local chairman representative. He saved many jobs for many people as the local chairman. He was number one on the seniority roster when he retired 43 years later in 2005. He was a long term member of First Baptist Church of Days, where he was treasurer, secretary and grounds building committee member. He was a faithful, devoted, loving husband, father and Papaw. He never missed any sports event, school event, or important event of those he loved.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Laura Moss; four sisters, Helen Campbell, Nell Smart, Genoa Cobo, Julia Idell Metcalfe; and one brother, Jared Moss.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Moss; three daughters, Kelly Moss Billings of Atoka, TN, Angela Copsy of Shelbyville, IL and Krissy Moss Lavelle (Clay)of  Munford, TN; one son, Justin B Moss (Kristen) of Lake Cormorant, MS; one sister, Annette Whitaker of Southaven, MS; two brothers, Porter Moss of Sentobia, MS and Mark Butler of Hernando, MS; eight grandchildren, Maggie (Troy)Dow ,Will (Taylor) Billings, Abigail  (Joshua) Valentin, Morgan Moss, Easton (Maddie) Lavelle, Luke Lavelle, Mallory Moss, Ethan Moss; and three amazing great grandchildren, Elliot Valentin, Kipp Lavelle, and one on the way.

He will forever be in our hearts and will be dearly missed.
