James Augusta Ramsey III, 82 of Oakland, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Octo b er 8, 2022, being surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Jim was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 27, 1940. He graduated from East High School in 1957 and went on to attend the University of Memphis earning a BBA in Real Estate and Economics. Jim continued his education to receive his Juris Doctor in 197 6 from Cecil B Humphries School of Law in Memphis, T ennessee .

Jim loved his country and it was his honor to serve in the United States Army Reserve. He received an honorable discharge with distinction as Sergeant Major.

Most importantly, H e loved the Lord and humbly served in the churches he attended. For many years he was a n active member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, T en n essee and most recently he felt at home worshiping at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Rossville, T ennessee .

Jim had a gift of intelligence and pursued knowledge in many areas . He used this knowledge to further himself in whatever capacity he served. His years of employment included, John B Goodwin Mortgage Co., First National Bank, Midsouth Title Co., Walt, Dyer and James Attorney Firm before pursuing his own personal law practice.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Frances Warbritton Ramsey and his father James Augusta Ramsey Jr.

Jim is survived by his wife Virginia South Ramsey; three sons, James Augusta Ramsey IV (wife Sonya) of Cordova, Tn.; Glenn Ramsey, and Robert E Ramsey (wife Dana ) of Collierville, Tn. Three step-d aughters Lisa Mc L eod (husband Frank) of Oakridge, Tn; Sandra Neyman (husband Todd) of Oakland, Tn; and Susan Lampley of Oakland, Tn. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren .

Jim was dearly loved by his close cousin s , extended family and his friends. Family and Friends are invited to celebrate the life and homecoming of Jim at the graveside service Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
