James Daniel Short born on October 20 th ,1950 passed from this world on October 23 rd ,2021 at home in Olive Branch, MS with his loving wife Diane at his side.

James had a wonderful life that was lived to it's fullest.  He was born in Ripley, MS and graduated from Memphis Technical High School in 1969. James then married the love of his life Marie Diane Smith on  September 18 th , 1971. He then joined the Air Force in November 1975 which took him far from home to amazing places.  He was stationed at Chanute AFB Illinois, Whiteman AFB Missouri, Wieschhiem AFB Germany and Francis E. Warren AFB Wyoming.  James completed 20 years of service to our country and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1995. During his time he served in Missile Maintenance eventually becoming a part of the Peacekeeper Missile Guidance Team and the NCOIC for the Minuteman Missile Maintenance Supervision part of the Missile Team Handling Section.  James received many awards and decorations including the following:  Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 oakleaf clusters and many others.

During his time in the military that was not all that he was accomplishing.  James and his wife Diane were busy raising 3 children Daniel, David and Angie.  James was a great dad who enjoyed the outdoor life with his family.  Many times he was found to be with his family enjoying camping, fishing, boating and traveling.  This has left incredible memories for his loved ones.

After his retirement James brought his family back to Olive Branch, MS where he was self-employed until 2016.  Upon his return as his family grew up he was the proud grandparent to Granddaughters Ashley, Katie, Hannah, Emily and Chloe.

James was preceded in death by his father, Marlin Clayton Short, mother, Ellen Irene (Meeks) Short, sister, Mary Helen Grisby, and brother, Arnold Wayne Short.

James Daniel Short is survived by his loving wife Marie Diane (Smith) Short, two son's James Daniel Short Jr. (Gayle) and David Lee Short (Shannon), daughter Angie Marie (Short) Burkhardt, sister, Rachael Irene Stewart Hunsucker and 5 beloved granddaughters, Ashley, Katie, Hannah, Emily and Chloe.
