James R. "Sonny" Harber, 85, was born December 25, 1929 and passed away on January 8, 2015. He retired from Hills Grocery as Meat Market Manager. James "Sonny" was a longtime member of Rugby Hills Baptist Church and Leawood Baptist Church where he was an active member of the choir and music programs which he dearly loved. He was also a 59 year member of the Millington Masonic Lodge. Sonny leaves his wife, Dorothy "Dot" of 63 years; two sons, Mickey (Sandy) of Memphis and Donnie of Humble, TX; a sister, Shirley Jo Pommer of Memphis; two granddaughters, Gwen Young of Memphis and Laura (Kenny, Sr.) Worthington of Millington; and two great grandsons, Kenny, Jr. and Brandon Worthington of Millington. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 12 and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, January 13 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 13 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Forest Hill East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leawood Baptist Church Budget or Charity of Choice.
