JAMES "JIMMY" STEVENS, 78, passed away at his home Sunday, March 3, 2013. Mr. Stevens retired in 1989 after 37 years of service with the Department of Defense at Defense Industrial Plant Equipment Center (DIPEC) in Memphis, he also worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia (1952 - 1966). In addition, he also served honorably in the Georgia National Guard and was an active member of Broadway Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. Mr. Stevens is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Stevens of Memphis; two sons, Walter Stevens (Sherri) of Olive Branch, MS and Keith Stevens (Linda) of Barton, MS; two grandchildren, Stephani Stevens of Memphis and Schaeffer Stevens of Olive Branch; one sister, Eleanor "Sis" Weber of Roland Park, KS; and one brother, Luke Stevens of Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascom and Louise Stevens. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6 from 11 a.m. till the service begins at 1 p.m. at Broadway Baptist Church in Southaven, with burial to follow in Forest Hill South Cemetery in Memphis. James "Jimmy" Stevens loved Jesus and his family and will be greatly missed by them and his many friends. His was a life well-lived.
